Unicorn Theatre is one of the leading producers of professional theatre for children in Britain. Founded in 1947, their mission is to create amazing shows for children which are fun, challenging and exciting – shows which rise to the challenge of a child’s imagination. The radical new project, a result of a 5 year collaboration between Keith Williams Architects, and the Unicorn team, is the most far reaching theatrical base for young pleople’s drama anywhere in the UK. It has been widely celebrated for its dramatic architecture and spaces, and the skilful handling of its complex formal programme on a very tight urban site. The new building contains 3 theatres, rehearsal and education studios, foyer, café and bar, as well as the normal back stage spaces as green room, dressing rooms and the like. On the south bank of the Thames, this new theatre will enrich the lives of over 100,000 children, their families and teachers every year.
