Green on 19 is the name given to a collection of five town homes on 19th Street in Santa Monica. Integrated seamlessly into a neighbourhood with more traditional architecture, Green on 19 brings a very modern touch that embodies a sustainable lifestyle. By making good use of a split plane design, the architect allows the natural light to permeate throughout the spaces, creating a warmth that is uncommon in Modernist designs. The detailing -down to the smallest reveal- has been done well throughout, adding to the richness of the space. Sustainable wood and bamboo is used for flooring and cabinetry. All urban runoff is captured and channeled for the landscaping, and solar panels are used as design elements, providing shade for the rooftop balconies.
