This jewel-like building is one of Steven Holl's most inspiring. The irregular volumes of this space are derived from one of his initial sketches, 'seven bottles of light in a stone box.' The hand made feel and textured walls on which the light plays belies the simple, tilt-up concrete structure that contains it. At night, the colored light shines outward like a beacon, drawing people in.
