The Air Tree is one pavilion, part of the Madrid Pavilion at the Expo 2010 in Shanghai. It stands next to the Bamboo house. Both objects are small copies of existing buildings in Madrid. These two buildings show the effort of the city in terms of social housing policy and the use of public space, creating an urban space closest to the citizen. Bamboo House, whose original is in Carabanchel as building public housing, was designed by FOA (Foreign Office Architects), directed by Alejandro Zaera. The Air Tree, a development with technological improvements of the three that make up the Ecobulevar Vallecas, designed by Urban Ecosystem, led by Belinda Tato. Both are a metaphor for life in Madrid, a private space and a public space for visitors to feel at home. The project will stay in Shanghai. It is part of the selection of the committee to have a life after the Expo. The plans of the Air Tree are distributed under Creative Commons license so that everyone can access & build them too.
