LX Factory is a complex of warehouses, 23,000 square metres large, that used to be a printing press company and before that a textile company. In 2008, the complex was turned into a creative hub. In 2007 the city council had yet to draw a zoning plan for the abandoned area. There was no date set for this plan (especially after the economic crisis), which made the property company go look for a temporary solution. The low rent and industrial vibe attracted a lot businesses from the arts sector, such as artists, fashion designers and design companies. The businesses that took these warehouses as their new habitat knew these spaces were available for an indefinite time. So just like LX Factory itself, they made little investments and would see over time how the project, their space and their business would evolve. Over the years it turned out to be a success and today bars, restaurants, a hostel and shops can be found here. Baptista is the architect who oversaw the transformation process.
