Foster's Walbrook Building sits at the junction of Cannon Street and Walbrook. The latter takes it name from one of London's "lost" rivers - tributaries of the Thames which have been culverted over. In plan, the deep footprint is "L" shaped, with the southern arm terminating on Cannon Street and the junction with the remaining arm taking place adjacent to Sir Christopher Wren's famous church of St Stephen Walbrook. It is here that Foster has placed the main entrance, rather than at the more obvious location on Cannon Street. Behind the entrance lies the main core, which on the upper levels also gives access to two oval shaped atria - one located in each wing. Externally, the rippled and curved form of the building is clad with curtain walling, which in turn is concealed behind a covering of cast aluminium louvers. At the crook of the two wings a small public garden has been preserved and refurbished.

The curtain wall louvres are in fact made from a polymer made to look like aluminium as aluminium would'nt stay flat. It would start to ripple
